Containing spilanthes acmella, a flowering, herbaceous plant native to Brazil, spilanthes has a wide body of research describing its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antimicrobial properties.

The natural compounds in spilanthes work to reduce wrinkles and improve skin appearance in several ways. The main compound responsible for the anti-aging effects is spilanthol. spilanthol has been shown to inhibit the release of neurotransmitters that cause muscle contraction, which helps to relax facial muscles and reduce the appearance of expression lines. Spilanthes also contains several distinct compounds that help improve overall skin appearance. These compounds work synergistically to increase collagen production, reduce inflammation and scavenge free radicals.
